MLM and the Internet: A Powerful Combination
It’s easy to forget that as little as 15 years ago, some of the only ways to recruit people into your MLM business were to knock on doors, make phone calls, and chase every last friend and family member you have. These home-based business owners weren’t just MLM representatives. They were salesmen. They knew how to approach people, how to elicit their emotions, play to their fears and needs, and when exactly to close the sale.
These days, growing your business doesn’t have to be so hands-on. While many networkers will still experience phenomenal success employing those sales skills, many others can achieve even greater results (with smaller effort) simply by harnessing the power of the Internet.
Today, the Internet has changed the landscape of MLM. Thanks to the Web, it’s never been easier to find prospects, recruit reps and sell products. But unfortunately, many MLMers are still stuck in the past, running their MLM business completely offline, missing out on the many opportunities to use the Internet.
Here are just a few of the many ways you can use the Internet to expand your MLM business.
Websites: Many MLM companies today will give you a website that does all the selling for you. Many times, they’ll give you a replicated site with the same content and order processing as the corporate site, which gives you a lot of credibility. Customers and new recruits can generally get all the information they need, buy products, and sign up to become a member right on your website – while the company does all the back-end work.
Email: These days, email is a great way to prospect without getting on the phone or meeting face to face. You can follow up with prospects without seeming too pushy, and you can also set up professional autoresponder systems. These emails will use proven messaging (often provided by the MLM companies themselves) that is sent to prospects automatically, every few days. You can also employ email list management companies to help find new prospects who have signed up for similar products or opportunities online.
Forums: Meeting people online is incredibly easy with forums on nearly every subject imaginable. This is a fast, efficient way to find potential prospects while sharing your interests.
Social networking: Sites like Facebook.com and Myspace.com are perfect for connecting with prospects and other successful network marketers. Simply build your list of friends, communicate with others as you normally would, and be sure to include a link to your website on your profile and in messages!
Online tools: There are a plethora of tools on the Internet designed to help network marketers, including contact management systems, webinars, online advertising programs, landing pages, and so on. Check with your MLM company to see what tools are available to you for free. Also check with your sponsor and other team members to see what systems they’re having success with.
There was a time when the only preferred method of MLM prospecting was face-to-face. But these days, even an experienced networker can achieve highly profitable results by integrating the Internet into their MLM business.
